Flex Sensor Ring
During my engineering clinic at Rowan University, my team was assigned to design and build a wearable ring with unique abilities. My team and I decided to pursue creating rings in the theme of spy gadgets. I came up with the idea of a wearable device that can produce and send Morse code based on the flexion of one's finger. I went through 5 iterations of prototypes, many experimenting with the idea of a flexible hinge. I eventually settled on a design that utilizes flexible TPU material for the section that actuates. The device utilizes an RP2040-based microcontroller known as XIAO, the section that reads flexion is a flex sensor produced by Sparkfun.
